Analysis of the title sequence of my favourite film
Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is one of my favourite films mainly due to the fact that Selena Gomez stars in it but also because it is simply a really nice chick-flick to watch on a girls' night in as opposed to other chick-flicks, this one has a different storyline to the usual chick flick. This film is also set in Paris/Monte Carlo which is another reason why it is one of my favourite films - as I absolutely love Paris and Monte Carlo being somewhere that I would like to go to in the future.
The types of title sequences this movie uses are titles on still images and titles on moving images. The title sequence starts off with the company name of the film's production which are: Fox 2000 and Regency Enterprises.
As the title sequence goes on there is quite a funky music in the background playing over the title sequence - which I can say sets the tone and genre of the film as from the music playing we can expect for this film to be a simple, girly chick-flick. After the production company's names are revealed we then change scene to a place where it seems to be that there are construction work as we are given the film's title.
After the title, we then start to see the actors/actresses names as Selena Gomez's name comes up first.
After we are shown the actors/actresses' names we then go straight into the title credits, starting with the US and European Casting crew which were Deborah Aquila, Tricia Wood and Kate Down. Whilst we are shown these credits the background scenery changes once again to now a pair of boots which as the audience we can assume it belonging to the main character - as that is what we are expecting. After these credits are shown the camera then starts to move upwards to reveal the person in the boots' face. The credits shown whilst this is happening is costume designer. After the costume designer credits the order in which the next credits come up are music supervisor and music supervisor as at this point we are now introduced with our main character - Grace who is played by Selena Gomez.
The order in which the credits after this come up in is: film editor, production designer, director of photography, (at this point we get a bit of dialogue with another character calling out Grace's name) executive producers, producers. At this point there is a slight pause in the title credits as there is now more dialogue, however, straight after the slight pause the credits continue with the original novel, screen story, screenplay and finally the director.
The length of the credits go on for quite a while - specifically until the third minute and thirty-two seconds of the film - however, as they go on we witness the film unravelling as well which makes it a sense of best of both worlds as we are shown the title credits but also can start to understand the theme and plot of the film. The fonts used in the title sequence are usually son-Serif fonts which we can related to the genre as the genre of the film is not a drama film but an adventure romantic comedy - as it can be implied from the font of the title credits lacking 'seriousness'.
