What is Genre ?

Definition:

Genre: A genre is a specific type of music, filming or writing.

Sub-Genre: A subdivision of a genre of literature, music and film etc

Hybird Genre : A genre in fiction that blends themes and elements for two or more different genres.

Codes & conventions: Codes are systems of signs which create meaning, codes can be divided into two categories ( technical and symbolic ) e.g technical codes are all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text.

Genre tropes : A trope is a familiar and repeated symbol, theme, character. Usually tied to genre.

The genre of the film is thriller and drama, which are some of my favourite. I enjoy this genre because it excites the audience and it has a sense of suspending disbelief and gets you on the edge of your seat. Realistically as the audience we do know some of the characters and actions are not real but we are Forced and actually want to believe it is real which makes this genre very interesting.

As a genrie i also enjoy is action. This is because it elcuidates the audience keeps them on the edge of their seat. It also includes abit of fantasy as some of the things that happen in the movies are not real such as flying or robots. The music played in action is up beat and usually uses score, the music genre is normally hip hop.

I also like the genre comdey, this is the one that always entertains the audience and keeps the audience happy throughout the film. Normally the characters are vunreble and tend to have a funny storyline to it. The ending of comdies are normally happy endings and keeps the audience always unexpected.
