Task 3 - What film genres do audiences prefer?
After collecting information from my survey and interviews I can deduce that:

• Which 3 genres do audiences prefer?

1. Thriller

2. Horror

3. Comedy

• What reasons did they give for their preference?

Males - they like thriller films because it is intense and gets their heart beating

Females - they like thriller films because it is more than just a film as they start to                           generate questions and answer them whilst watching but also because it is                         intense and exciting

• Do similar audience groups like the same film genres?

This question can be answered both ways. Yes, because after a certain point stereotypical film genres such as romantic comedies just isn't the cup of tea for some middle-aged people due to it being the same storyline constantly being repeated with different actors and actresses. Therefore, they choose to watch films whose genre is a bit more sophisticated and mind-playing such as drama or thriller etc. However, this can also be answered no, as it is just a matter of opinion and taste. Not all middle-aged adults are into thrillers as some may still like watching animations with their kids and purely nothing else.

• Which film genre do you think you would prefer to make and, based on this research, who would be your target audience?

I think I would prefer to make a thriller film and my target audience for this would be 17-25 year olds.
