Three stills of my favourite genres with analysis:

    Film 1: White House Down

    Genre: Action

What are the main generic signifiers: Both male characters, Main characters, one is wearing A vest with what look likes suit trousers that have been wrecked and are dirty and is holding a gun with other weapons on him, as if he has been in war or in a fight, The background has burning buildings and smoke surrounding the main characters.

How easy is it to identify the genre? Why?: Easy because of the uses of props one of the main characters is holding, Burning and smoke surrounding them can relate to action and violence movies.

    Film 2: American Psycho

From the blood that is splatted on his face and coat you can tell it would be some sort of horror/thriller and the look of his expression and the way even though we can see his hands you can still see as if he is hold an object in his hands from the way his arms a position.

    Film 3: Love Actually

    GenreComedy/Romantic

What are the main generic signifiers:  The dark and romantic lighting from the street lights, The way the two characters are position with the female character hold the male characters face in her hands and if she is going to kiss him, wearing warm fitting clothes suggesting it's set in a cold country/city .
